Healthy Choices Awards Reception

Village Health Foundation

Village Health Foundation (VHF) is more than a complementary health clinic; it is a support system for the community that aims to improving the connection of the mind, body and spirit of each client that we serve; for it is so, that as one's health improves, so too does the quality of one's life. VHF works to teach and enable our client’s with the tools necessary to living a healthy life through well-balanced food intake, physical activity, psychological stimulation, and spiritual balance. Planting the seed of healthy living, VHF recently established the Youth Leadership Academy, to advocate and encourage other young adults and seasoned adults in their community to live healthy and take control of their present and future health and wellness.

Jewel Thais-Williams

Founding Village Health Foundation in 2001, Jewel Thais- Williams, graduate of UCLA, Samara University, and licensed acupuncturist and primary care physician, has been exemplary of what it means to live healthy and serve the community. In an effort to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, and assist those living with the disease, Ms. Thais-Williams began serving the community through learning and offering healthy lifestyle choices for those in need. Through founding and serving on the board of the Minority AIDS Project, supporting the hard work of the AIDS Project Los Angeles and Imani Unidos Food Bank, Ms. Thais-Williams has continued to express her support and care for those whose health are compromised by HIV/AIDS. Not only has Ms. Thais-Williams been able to educate the community about the healthy ways of living with HIV/AIDS, she has worked tirelessly in order to educate and spread awareness about the “silent killers,” of which mainly affect minority individuals-- diabetes, hypertension, obesity, etc. The Village Health Foundation has grown tremendously in the past ten years to inform others about alternative medicine methods, and will continue to do so for many years to come.

Support Our Work

Village Health Foundation seeks sponsors and partners to assist with our efforts to meet the needs of emancipated youth. Financial donations are appreciated in any amount and will be applied to such needs as renovation of the off-site center. Since 2001, we have also provided low- and no-cost health services to the community. We are a community center committed to improving our clients' physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. In addition to offering individual treatment and educational programs, we hold group activities, public lectures, community health festivals, fundraising events and social support seminars such as Yoga demonstrations and self-defense classes.

We would very much appreciate your contribution; donations in any amount or form are appreciated. You may also support VHF through the donation of materials such as clothing, school supplies and unused toiletries. The Village Health Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS. VHF also appreciates the donation of time.
